The expansion of the St Enoch Centre began in June 2007 with Phase 1 now complete. The £100m redevelopment by Canadian owner and manager Ivanhoe Cambridge further strengthens the City Centre's retail offer. It includes an extensive upgrade for the surrounding St Enoch Square, transforming it into a cafe culture plaza-style environment, refurbishment of the existing mall and expansion of leisure facilities with a strong emphasis on new restaurants and bars within the complex. The project has increased retail and leisure space from 750,000 sq ft to around 1 million sq ft. The proposals redefine the western edge of a refurbished St Enoch Square, establishing an improved quality open space and providing a vital link between Buchanan Street and the River Clyde.
