...Glasgow - this exuberant, design-conscious city of high sophistication and even higher style...

  Tradeston

Tradeston

Tradeston Local Development Strategy, approved in 2006, set a new vision to redevelop the area on the south bank of the river, directly across from the Glasgow International Financial and Services District.

Activity:

  • Create an area of mixed uses with increased densities at the river edge, M8 motorway and railway line
  • Investing in high quality public realm at the waterfront and a new civic square at Tradeston/Wallace Street
  • A network of home zones to create linked amenity spaces to enhance the environment and use of destination and event spaces
  • Promotion of sustainability in terms of urban design and building practices

The area comprises a twelve block street grid. The first three blocks have obtained planning approval for over 1000 flats with food and drink and commercial uses, at ground floor, to activate the river frontage.

The new Tradeston IFSD pedestrian/cycle bridge and the replacement quay walls works were completed in 2009.
