The Town Centre Regeneration Fund has been devised by the Scottish Government to help revitalise town centres and sustain jobs.
In recognition that town centres are a key element of the economic and social fabric of the nation, the Scottish Government has made £60m available in 2009-10 to improve Scotland's town centres and local high streets.
It is hoped that these funds will support community and business leaders to regenerate and grow our town centres. This funding is aimed at helping town centres to adapt to modern markets, and supply the access, mix of facilities and services, and environment that will meet the needs of local communities and businesses.
A wide range of bodies including local authorities, Community Planning Partnerships, Business Improvement Districts, Town Centre Managers, Chambers of Commerce, businesses and third sector groups were eligible to apply for the funding.
