Location: 1345 Govan Road, Glasgow

The New South Glasgow Hospital Project involves the expansion of one hospital and the building of two new hospitals to create one of the largest hospital complexes in Europe. First phase - the maternity hospital building will remain with an upgrade and redesign already underway. A new children's hospital will also be built on the site and will be integrated with maternity and adult hospital services.

The New South Glasgow Hospital Project will deliver a state-of-the-art 1,100+ bedded adult hospital and a new 240-bedded children's hospital, together with a major laboratory development and an upgraded maternity unit on the Govan site by 2014.

This investment will see Glasgow become home to the largest, most advanced single NHS development in the United Kingdom.

Timescale - the Maternity Unit to open first, followed by the Children's Hospital in 2013, then South Glasgow Hospital to open in 2014.
