The UK’s biggest and most ambitious educational project − the Glasgow "super campus" will be run by New Campus Glasgow Ltd and will be designed by a multi−disciplinary team from Atkins. New Campus Glasgow is a visionary project to bring together Glasgow’s three city centre colleges to deliver world class learning on a shared campus.

The development will create a new city centre learning quarter − one integrated campus on two sites for the 50,000 students and 2,000 staff of Central, Metropolitan, and Nautical Colleges.

A masterplan has been developed for the preferred option of an integrated campus on two sites − City Campus on Cathedral Street (currently home to Central and Metropolitan Colleges) and Riverside Campus on Thistle Street (currently home to the Nautical College).

The project is being funded by the Scottish Funding Council in partnership with the three colleges. Building work is likely to begin in early 2012 and to be completed by 2014. An early phase of the estates development is a £5.6m Marine Skills Centre on the Clyde, which is already under construction.
