  Custom House Quay

Custom House Quay

Location: Clyde Street, Glasgow G1 4ER

Situated on the northbank, the site comprises Custom House Quay, Custom House Gardens and Carrick Quay.

The 1.3 hectare site is 450 metres long and incorporates South Portland Suspension Bridge. Custom House Quay has been identified as a major redevelopment opportunity, to introduce a mix of activities and upgrade a riverside promenade.

Planning approval has been secured to create an extension to retail and commercial activities to the riverside, giving Clyde Street a new street frontage, improving access to and along the river, and creating a sustainable urban environment.

The approved proposals comprise:

  • A landmark tower on the axis of Buchanan Street, to draw pedestrians to the river. This tower and 6 residential blocks will provide 348 residential units;
  • A series of new public spaces fronting Custom House, St Andrews RC Cathedral all connected to a new Clyde Walkway; and
  • A "new" Clyde Street with quay wall refurbishment;
  • A pontoon for river access and activities
