Clyde Gateway

"The level of activity within Clyde Gateway over the next five years is going to be on a scale never seen before in Scotland."

The Clyde Gateway Urban Regeneration Company is leading the way on achieving unparalleled social, economic and physical change across an area of more than 2,000 acres.

Clyde Gateway enjoys a fantastic location that makes it unique in regeneration terms, just 2km from Glasgow city centre, and on the banks of the River Clyde. The level of activity within Clyde Gateway over the next five years is going to be on a scale never seen before in Scotland, with more than £140m of public money committed in the short term. All of this public investment will pave the way for a further £1.5bn in private development over the next two decades.

Physical Projects:
  • A five mile extension of the M74 motorway (already on site and due for completion late 2011)
  • The construction of the East End Regeneration Route, linking the M8 and extended M74
  • A new National Indoor Sports Arena and cycling velodrome are being built in advance of Glasgow hosting the 2014 Commonwealth Games
  • The Athletes’ Village for the 2014 Games will also be located within Clyde Gateway − a village that, post-Games, will become a new waterfront housing neighbourhood for the East End of Glasgow.
Clyde Gateway has been charged to:
  • Continue to bring new regeneration and development initiatives over the next 20 years
  • Help ensure a meaningful and sustainable legacy beyond the hosting of the 2014 Games
  • Deliver further new housing, offices and workspaces, better public transport facilities, and aims to lever a further £1.5bn of investment, to deliver 21,000 new jobs, 10,000 new homes and a 20,000 increase in the local population.

The URC is taking an innovative and dynamic approach to delivering solutions between the private and public sectors and development opportunities are emerging all the time.
