Location: Pacific Quay, Glasgow G51 1EA
The £150m Pacific Quay development covers 30 acres on the site of the former Glasgow garden festival. It will include a 46,500 sq m mixed use development, incorporating offices, residential, hotel, leisure and other supporting businesses.
The site is currently home to the Scottish criminal records office, XFM Scotland, Buro Happold and Scottish Media Group (SMG). The BBC moved into their new headquarters on the site in 2007.
The Clyde Arc (also known as the Finnieston Bridge or the 'squinty' bridge), which opened in September 2006, has greatly improved transport links to and through the development to Govan and Kinning Park.
There is currently an opportunity to develop the Canting Basin. The plan is for the basin to become a focal point for water based activities (and associated commercial activities such as sailing equipment and clothes retailers, cafes, restaurants etc), in the heart of the Pacific Quay development.
The site has planning permission in principle, which includes 200-300 residential units. The consent however is subjected to the satisfactory conclusion of a legal agreement although the project is currently on hold due to the slowdown in the residential market.
