  Promoting Development Opportunities

PROMOTING DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Companies looking to invest in Glasgow's business infrastructure will find a city that has taken a very proactive and innovative approach to working with the development industry to ensure appropriate development takes place.

Glasgow City Council has introduced a series of measures to help the city weather the current economic downturn and to support the development industry in its bid to build on the exciting projects under way in the city.

Measures include:

  • Fast tracking major planning applications for key developments
  • Selling land "off market" where developers have access to capital necessary to finance development (subject to independent valuation)
  • More flexibility in land disposal to make it easier for projects to get off the ground
  • Allowing the deferral of payments developers have to make to develop sites
  • Establishing a range of business growth funds to support development
